  1. google art project is one of my all-time favorites. they've already expanded it a bunch, and i think as museums realize the potential the project has, it will really catapult. thanks for sharing, xiao!

  2. Well I have mixed feelings about this. I can't help but be reminded of John Berger's film "Ways of Seeing," I watched in my social theory class. It talks about how a camera can change the way we see a painting...how everything is important in terms of what we see before we look at the art and after we look at it. What's the art next too, and what type of environment the art is in. How the cameral zoomed in the art and pans across it....can that change our perception of the piece? Berger thinks so. I guess as artist we already know this, and it can be ok, but will the public be aware of how powerful that concept is? I think that at the end of this video he states that people ask him all of the time if he's trying to replicate the experience of going to the museum and he says no. I don't think he is...as a 3D artist I get excited about the possibility of a wide range of opportunities to work on creating something like what the video is showing. When you think about all of the people that would love to go to a museum but can't for health reasons or something but still wish to view, this would be highly beneficial to them. I guess in some way we all have to roll with the technology as it advances and embrace it verses rebell against it. I can see a hefty debate about this sort of thing. I also wonder if they will let people view it online for free? Or will they have to pay a monthly fee of some sort. Great post.
