Come See the World
The
experience of going to the movies is one we treasure. The feeling of
the ticket in your hand, the seat beneath you, the dimming of the house
lights and that first frame filling the screen are all part of a pastime
that engages our senses and lives in our memory.
We
invite you to continue your love affair with film at our Festival. For
two weeks, our audiences see the world in different ways through the 150
films we present, the countries we represent and the filmmakers we
bring to Chicago. For those of you coming to the Chicago International
Film Festival for the first time, welcome — we’ve been waiting for you!
For those of you who are gearing up for your second, fifteenth, or
forty-eighth Festival, welcome back — it’s great to see your familiar
faces.
We
founded the Festival 48 years ago to introduce audiences to the daring
work of new filmmakers and to share that electrifying sense of discovery
you get when you know you are seeing something ground-breaking and
breathtaking. This year we will continue to present films from these new
voices, as well as work from iconic masters and conversations with the
voices of the film industry, making the Chicago International Film
Festival a place where artists and the public can experience the magic
of the movies — together.
